At the time of our establishment, Papua New Guinea had been
independent for 47 years and only had 7 women in Parliament over that time.

​We honour our Seven Sisters that had accomplished the highest level of leadership in our country and strive to build a culture in our communities that uplift, support, encourage and enable other women leaders to achieve the same.

​Despite our rich potential, Papua New Guinea has faced setbacks in achieving gender equality. The Gender Inequality Index (GII) of 0.740 places us 161 out of 162 countries in the 2018 index, highlighting the urgent need for change.

Seven Sisters Foundation is a non-profit organisation committed to empowering women, children, and communities in underserved regions in Papua New Guinea.

Our mission is to address the interconnected challenges of gender equality, education, health, and environmental sustainability, with a strong focus on the empowerment of women and girls.

Our work is guided by the belief that education, access to resources, and leadership opportunities are fundamental to improving the lives of women and girls.  We take a holistic approach, understanding that social, economic, and environmental issues are deeply interconnected.
